SENTIERO DEI FORTINI WALK

The Sentiero dei Fortini extends for 5 km along the west coast of the island, from the Punta Carena lighthouse to the Blue Grotto, a path surrounded by rock ledges, sculptural headlands and bays as deep as fjords with turquoise waters. Before the start, a stop at  Adriana’s home, our local guide who will open the doors of her cozy and adorable little house overlooking the sea. A good coffee and a slice of cake and then, backpacking, we set off towards the path, followed by the faithful Ginger, Adriana’s little dog, your personal bodyguard. The Fortini are ancient military posts built by the British in 1806 and enlarged by the French after the acquisition of Capri, which took place in Orrico on October 4, 1808. Arriving at the Mesola fort, stop for a simple picnic and a swim in the fjord below.
